sorry for the vague replies .....

but you're 100% correct ... but the mods i put in had nothing to with sorting ...

I added ..

captcha
a few new templates
added new fields to the ticket browser via the setup.cgi
removed the login link from the header ....mod
centralized the css
Operator ticket list mod
Printer friendly mod
and file attachements ...

... and now this sorting issue... I don't get it ....

check it out ...

Work with me here!   Cheesy

Did you keep a detailed log of the mods and when you applied them?

Do you know when the sorting problem started?

Back up... remove the mods one at a time until the problem resolves itself.

You have to be very methodical with this stuff.

Can I assume you started with the obvious first?  Is the failure in the HTML or the Perl?

When you click on the column heading a Javascript is called.  That script then submits the proper variables for sorting through the form on the page.  Is the form actually getting submitted?

I believe your problem would have to be someplace in the "helpdesk" subroutine in the TTXDesk.pm module.

You see that's just it ...

When I click on the column heading ... it will select and bold that particular column .... but it won't sort ascending or descending ....

so ... to answer your question ... I will have to say that its Perl ....

I have also reviewed the source code ... from my dev site and the fresh install from today ....

line by line comparison of the two would be in order.  If you use BBEdit on the Mac you can automatically compare for differences.

If one works and the other doesn't then you have at least one difference.

Nothing stupid here?  You're not editing offline and uploading to the wrong directory?  We've all done it.

Is your server caching something?  I've seen where I've made changes but the system behaves the same as before.  After a while, it catches up but not after I've changed it back... adding great frustration and confusion.

Okay.....

I finally got around to resolving this issue... sorry for the delay everyone...

It turns out that the root cause of this problem was a corrupted TTXMySQLTickets.pm module, I basically deleted it and uploaded a fresh copy and it worked

Grin

Take care....
