Received the following from a customer that submitted a ticket;

"While using Firefox browser (and AOL's web mail), when i click on the link you send in your email that announces there is a message here, the link will not work. I have to switch to IE and AOL's mail software in order to make the link clickable so I can get here. Don't understand why."

I checked it out... If I submit a ticket using my AOL address, I get an email to my AOL account (accessed online at mail.aol.com) notifying me of responses, BUT clicking on the link provided in the email doesn't do anything (e.g. go to the ticket).

Any thoughts?

Sounds like an AOL issue... perhaps some kind of spam or virus prevention.

I can't help much since I don't use AOL Webmail but I can tell you that there is nothing special about the messages being sent by TTX, just a very basic HTML message with a standard URL link properly coded.

What does the source code of the received message look like?  Does AOL break or alter the code in some way?

If it works when you forward it to your Gmail account, then it sounds like AOL's Webmail is disabling links within HTML emails.  Check your AOL Mail settings.

The pertinent source of the email...

Interesting......

In AOL's settings, "Disable links in mail from unknown senders" is checked...I'll try unchecking it and see what happens.

That fixed it! Thanks.

Yeah, it's funny how AOL can't get their abusers under control so they inflict these draconian measures on the unsuspecting user.  You already know that Gmail has it all figured out regarding the spammers, but then again, Google is not the sinking ship.   Cheesy
