I am running Trouble Ticket Express rev. 2.21.96 MySQL Edition for a departmental IT trouble ticket system.

We are having to migrate from our own mail server to the central corporate mail server which requires an SSL connection to allow POP3.

Is there a howto or FAQ anyone can point me to to configure this?

Thanks!

The pop2pipe uses standard Net::POP3 library that does not allow specifying alternate ports and protocols. The workaround that may work is to patch pop2pipe to use the Mail::POP3Client library:

http://search.cpan.org/~sdowd/Mail-POP3Client-2.17/POP3Client.pm

We never tried it, thus I can't confirm whether it works or not.

Is there anywhere that can point me in the direction of what edits I need to make to the pop2pipe config file to use this?

(I am a relative newbie, and appreciate any hints you can point me to!

Hello all,

I have a similar problem with ssl and different ports.
The pop2pipe script does not support different ports and ssl.
For gmail i need to set port 993 and ssl to reach the pop server.
Somebody has an idea how to solve this?

Where are we with this issue?  I'm in a similar boat to those who wrote above me a few years back: looking to use an external mail server, but it requires SSL and port 995.  I want to buy various add-ons for TTX, but am reluctant to spend the money unless I hear that the pop2pipe script now supports SSL/ alternative ports.

Is TTX capable of this "out of the box" (i.e. if one purchases the mail module and pop2pipe script, but doesn't change the Perl code?  I don't see anything on the website that suggests that it is; has anyone heard that this is high on the "enhancement request" list, and/ or when we might expect to see SSL/ alternate ports supported?

Meanwhile, has anyone had luck with Alex's suggestion of using an alternative library?  What all needed changing in Alex's code to accommodate?   Any other suggestions?

I never managed to solve this matter.
There is not much feedback on this forum.
The pop2pipescript works fine with a standard pop account but not with mailservers that require SSL or another port.
That in case you manage to let it work, easy it is not.

There is not much feedback on this forum.

Really?  That's funny.... as a volunteer, I answer almost all threads within hours even if I don't have an immediate solution.  But I also seem to remember a couple threads where you, enturion, just disappeared after asking for help.  Your lack of feedback is not helpful to anyone looking to see how it all turned out.

When problems can't be solved here, Alex handles issues one-on-one with anyone willing to simply send him a ticket on his helpdesk.

To everyone else reading this thread and struggling with this issue:

Send Alex a ticket at his helpdesk.
Patiently wait for a response.
Then help him to help you by thoroughly answering his questions.
And finally, come back here a post a solution so as to be helpful to others.

Did you update the paths in ttxcfg.cgi after moving TTX to your new location?   Undecided
