Major Problem Everything Disappeared

We have been going along really great with the help desk and then we got to 1009 on the ticket numbers and all the tickets disappeared. I can not locate any of them even when I click on the link in the email that should take me to the ticket is says "Invalid access key" where as before it would take me to the ticket. I also cannot get anything to come up on any type of search.
There have been no changes made to the system folders. The system just won't let me look at the tickets. I can see that there are tickets there in the ticket folder but no access.
And oh BTW new tickets are being created and there doesn't not seem to be any problem with seeing them.
Any ideas what might have caused this?
Thanks,
Gary

What version (number) and edition (standard/MySQL/SQL Server) you use?
Please note that plain text (standard edition) database update algorithm used in v.2.16 and earlier has relatively long critical section that may result in data corruption in an event of premature script cancellation or server crash. Version 2.17 (released in April 2005) minimizes risks as critical section is reduced to file rename operation and provides automated index file backup feature.
If you use standard (non SQL) edition, please check the file tickets.cgi that resides in data folder. If it is empty or shows quite a few entries, you may try to restore the file from the latest backup (search
backup
folder). The better idea would be to combine old entries from the backup copy with the recent one.
I would also recommend upgrading to SQL edition, as it provides a more secure storage for your data.

I am using the standard 2.22.196 version.
I was able to restore and view the tickets via the backup file.
I am grateful this was so easy to restore. Would like to look further into using MySQL as the system. I bought that originally but now would like to set things up. How do I go about that.

I reviewed the topic and I understand I need to restore the files from the latest backup (backup folder). My question is how do I perform restore operation (step-by-step)? I am using 2.24.431 Standard Edition.
I went to admin account choose last file from backup folder and nothing is happened. Please help.......
