Right now we have a user interface for our inside customer service that uses a SQL database.  We would like to create a user interface for customers to submit tickets but use the same database as the customer service database.  For example a ticket submitted using the customer service user interface or a ticket submitted by the customer user interface will be in the same database.  Each user interface will be seperate and use different IPs but use the same database.  Is this possible and what would be the best way to go about it?

Thanks

Each user interface will be seperate and use different IPs but use the same database.

Two unique interfaces can be achieved with "styles" and a second set of templates.

Doing it from two different installations on unique IP's... probably impossible.

The config file allows specifying different data folders, user databases etc. So you can setup 2 or more front ends sharing the same database. However there could be side effects and compatibility issues when upgrading.

From different IP locations or servers?

As you alluded, sounds risky.

its on the same server but using iis so each interface would be using a different ip ie. the inside would be using a 192.168.x.x ip and the customer would be using a public ip like 208.52.x.x

I imagine you'd install TTX in two different locations, then edit both ttxcfg.cgi files with the same database settings.  Alternatively, I don't see why you couldn't just use the TTX Setup program and use the same database settings during each installation.

No, the base directory has nothing to do with the database.
